How To Build A List Using A Squeeze Page And An Autoresponder 2
By**We’re continuing from yesterday’s post - How To Build A List Using A Squeeze Page And An Autoresponder
INSTALLING THE AUTORESPONDER
Installing the autoresponder involves three tasks:
- List Creation
- Sign-up Form Creation
- Writing Follow-up Mails
LIST CREATION
Choose a name to call your list and pick the options you want. Choosing the double-opt-in option is a wise thing to do as it will make sure that your subscribers are real people interested in what you have to offer. While creating the list, you will also write standard things like your signature and various tracking etc. You also include the URL for the thank-you (or confirmation success) page too.
SIGN UP FORM CREATION
If you use a service provider like Aweber or GetResponse, your autoresponder software will have features to set up signup forms of various types, like pop-ups, pop-ins, pop-unders, some that bounce in etc. Maybe you should experiment with those later.
For now, you can begin with a simple signup form that just requests for a name and email address. You can create a sense of urgency by labelling the signup button with words like “YES, Sign me up Now” or “YES, Give Me Instant Access Now!”.
You don’t have to spend much time on the signup form. Finally, you can now generate the HTML code for your sign up form and “copy and paste” it into the squeeze page HTML.
WRITING THE FOLLOW-UP EMAILS
You will need at least a follow-up mail – the “welcome” email. In this email, you will greet your new subscriber warmly and introduce yourself as well as the service you will be providing to your members.
Remember that first impressions last long and you will never get a second chance to make a good one, so make a good one the first time! If you promised a free bonus or limited-time offer, include the links in the welcome email, so the subscriber instantly gets the first subscription benefit.
If your intention is to use the list mainly for regular news updates and active offer promotion, then don’t worry about any more follow-up emails. However, if you want to create a “set-it-and-forget-it” cash machine, then you need to do some more work and write series of follow-up emails.
These, you will schedule to be sent automatically by the autoresponder at set intervals after the initial subscription.
Many ways different ways exist to structure series of follow-up emails, but focus on the different groups you have within your keyword list and write an email in the series for each group. Consult your autoresponder FAQ for more suggestions.
EXTRA AUTORESPONDER TASKS
As you grow your subscriber list, you may want to broadcast messages with news, valuable offers and other promotional materials. However, you need to treasure and respect your list and not abuse them by spamming or sending unrelated stuff several times a day. They will quickly tire and unsubscribe or even worse will report you as a spammer!
You should use the autoresponder tracking and statistics features and continually test and rework your squeeze page to be sure it is optimized and gets you as many signups and conversions as possible.
GETTING SUBSCRIBERS
Okay, now you have setup your squeeze page and autoresponder. How do you get traffic to the squeeze page?
There are two primary ways to do that:
- Using Google Adwords or other Pay-Per-Click sites
- By writing articles
Using Google Adwords
A certain way to get traffic to your squeeze page is to pay for it. With Google Adwords you put up a list of keywords related to the product you are promoting and write several tiny ads which you design to attract visitors to your squeeze page.
Each click on your ads has a price which depends on how many factors, such as how much competition there is on the keyword and the relevance of the keyword to your squeeze page (VERY important to mention your keywords on the squeeze page).
Writing Articles
An effective way to send free traffic to your squeeze page is to write several articles related to the main keywords of the product you are promoting and submitting them to the top e-zine article sites. Include links in your articles which point to your squeeze page.
The great this about writing articles is that they will just keep on sending you traffic as search engines pick up the articles and even more if other people start linking to it from their sites. You can even put them on your own site and stick some Google AdSense on the pages and earn a little (or a lot if you are clever) extra.
OTHER WAYS TO GET TRAFFIC
Similar to the article writing method, you can also blog about the subject matter, or post messages on relevant forums. Again be sure to include links which point to the squeeze page.
Just do it!
Now you know how it is done. Not much to it, really. You just have to get started and then continue until it’s done, and then you are well on your way to building a list for fun or profit.
Cheers,
Olusegun
