Backlinks – Get Them

Backlinks are extremely important to bloggers. Blogging success is achieved by doing just two main things right :
• Getting quality content on your blog
• Getting quality links to point to your blog.
Getting quality content is a bit easy. Getting quality links to point to your blog isn’t.
Like everything else online, there are several ‘tips and tricks’ on getting websites to link back to you. Some are article marketing, distributing freebies and organizing contests and one of the simplest but forgotten ways – ‘Plainly emailing the website author to provide a link to you’.

Getting links is not easy but is the most rewarding.

With article marketing, you can get a lot of PR 0 and PR 1 websites to link to you but the real question is “How many PR 7 or PR 8 websites – the authorities in your niche, will?” Links from these guys matter if you would want Google and your niche audience to trust you well enough.
So, how do you get this long, yet satisfying process that will go a long way in helping you establish your authority done?

Step 1
Do NOT shoot an email asking for a link. The blogosphere has lots of folks doing this right now and you most likely will never hear back. Rather, establish a rapport with the author using social networks. Connect to the author on websites like Facebook and Twitter.

When the author tweets, do not just retweet mechanically. Intelligently engage in a quality discussion with them, let the author know that you exist and do this consistentently before proceeding to step two.

Step 2
Does the author handle a forum along with his blog? Volunteer to be a moderator.
Does he have a Facebook fan page? No? Create one, and ask him to endorse it on his blog.
Do these and you have built trust.

Step 3
Email the author asking if your blog can be included in the Resources section of his. You will most likely to get a link.
These steps seem very tasking, but remember niches have only a handful of genuine experts, and you are going to employ this only to get to these few people.

Additionally, it is not just a backlink you are earning, but a very valuable contact in your niche which will go a long way in establishing your authority.

CAVEAT!
Before this can happen, you need to have great blog content. If you have not built genuine content yet, Then make that Step 1 instead and go and build that first!
