Do You Write Articles People Want to Read?
By
We love freebies – information especially. The first point of call today when people have a problem that needs a solution is the internet whether it is to know how to be more successful, how to lose weight, how to find love, how to live longer; the list is endless. A month ago, I began an article marketing campaign, began writing to promote affiliate products and I have now become an platinum author on ezinearticles. The results are beginning to manifest also. If you want to earn money online then writing engaging content is crucial.
The five simple steps below can help you to make people want to read your articles.
1. Write Easy-to-scan Articles
When usability authority, Jakob Nielson carried out a study, he found that only 16% of the test users actually read the copy they found online. People don’t read online articles as if it is a book or a daily, they usea search engine to conduct a search, click through to websites, do a quick scan of relevant page, and if they can’t find what they’re looking for then they just click to others.
Make it easier for readers to scan your content quickly using headings and sub-headings, numbered lists and bulleted lists and varying the font and using bold and italics where relevant.
2. K.I.S
Keep it short. Now that the reader has scanned your content and seen that you do have copy worth reading, keep their attention on your blog by breaking down your content into small chunks.
Using short sentences and brief paragraphs break up your content. Give them only one idea per paragraph to prevent muddling things up. Walk them through step-by-step and where you can, give them the most vital information up front.
3. Use sizzling titles
You need to submit your articles to directories to make them easily located online. Therefore make sure your title is engaging and eye-catching or why else would the reader choose to read your article instead of the others that have been published alongside it?
Write a title that will jump out and grab the reader’s attention. Keep it short and compelling while you state the main benefit or solution.
4. Talk to your target audience
Think about who your reader is before you begin to write any article. Picture a friend or family member who in the niche you are targeting and structure your article to suit them. Pretend that you are writing to a friend. This will keep your copy light and personable. It will not only make the final article more engaging, it will help to build your credibility in the eyes of the reader as well.
5. Add substance
Don’t waste time and energy beefing up your articles, it turns the reader off. Rather, focus on only including practical and valuable information.
Research the topic you are about to write on and include examples and case studies to help your reader relate to what you are telling them.
Connect with them on an emotional level. This moves them to take action; this is especially vital if you want the reader to purchase something or sign up to a service as a result of reading your content.

A lot of good points here, it’s interesting that you mention titles a lot of people forget that a great hook title will double your views on the right day!

All excellent tips. I still struggle a bit with being too long-winded but then again, that’s how I am in real life too

I’m still struggling with this one. I’m doing some of the things (at least I think I am) but the proof is in the readers eyes.
