Are Soldiers better bloggers?: Blogging lessons from Military Bloggers
ByThe military is an institution of great importance to any nation’s security (They are avid bloggers too). It is based on the tenets of leadership, selfless service, loyalty, discipline, order, delegation and intelligence based on facts and figures. Most citizens that pass through this institution are generally upright and law abiding and the tenets inculcated into them make them generally more effective members of the society.
>>Fast forward to the blogosphere.
In my experience as a blogger, I have come across certain bloggers that sprang from this institution. I will call them the military bloggers (MBs) for lack of a better term.
I love these guys. They apply everything the military is all about to their blogs and their results have been phenomenal. Not only that, they are responsible for several platforms that focus on helping other bloggers move to their next higher level. These guys are the most focussed bloggers I know, they set goals and strive to achieve it and as we all know, nothing is more satisfying than setting a goal and seeing it become a reality.
Watch out for a blog post here on internet-earner on two of these guys to see whose better.
I personally have benefitted from affiliating with MBs and sometimes I find it hard to catch up with their energy. Somehow, they go on to use it to motivate other bloggers with great results to show for it.
The two bloggers I will be profiling seem to not so affiliated but I have noticed that not only have they taken their blogs to another level, they seem to be making progress and getting things done at almost the same rate.
I once tried to connect them but I don’t think it worked like I would have loved but all the same; it really did not matter at the end of the day.
Now note that these two guys live in separate continents and are of different cultures but the military clock seemed to tick at the same rate.
Generally, I think MBs are better bloggers and systematically approach blogging. They progressively tackle the issue of content, move over to traffic, get a massive followership and use stats to prove it and get even more traffic and then cross over to making money from their blogs by offering services and products that will help other people to duplicate what they did to get the results they have.
And you know the most fascinating thing? These guys do it in shorter time than any A-list blogger has done. What MBs have done in less than 6 months, most A-listers have achieved in at least two years. In fact so effective are the MBs blogging tactics that it caught the attention of several A-listers who had no choice but to become regulars on the MBs blogs.
MBs decided to embrace blogging and chose to exemplify leadership traits they have imbibed in the military to their blogs. They also went out to their ways to show other (civilian) bloggers how it can be done by doing it.
- Selfless service
MBs spend the first 3 months of their blogs giving out content and you know what, they did so while they were learning on the job!
- Loyalty
MBs made it a point of contact to reply to every comment made on their blogs. This built a sense of loyalty within their readership and they in return help to spread word and bring in more traffic to MB blogs
- Discipline
MBs made it a point of contact to post content daily. In fact one went as far as posting twice a day. They know that Content is King and once you have good content, people will come over to your blog to consume them and then come for more.
- Order
MBs know the essence of order. They tweaked their blogs till they got the optimum lay out that had the most positive effect on their traffic and then took off from there.
- Delegation
These guys delegate. They created an avenue for other bloggers to leverage on their platform and in return helped with more creating more great content.
- Intelligence based on Facts and Figures
MBs used stats to their advantage – to measure their productivity in terms of traffic and growth and used this to further enhance the growth of their blogs and get more traffic by broadcasting their results.
